Is smoking permitted?
We ask our visitors kindly not to smoke in the house.

When can guests arrive?
The standard check-in period is between 5.00 and 7.00 pm. If you need to arrive earlier or later please let us know the details in advance.

By what time should guests check out?
By 11.00 am.

Are guests free to come and go as they please?
We give keys to the house, and therefore we must be here to let guests in when they first arrive. We ask our guests to leave before 11.00 am.

When is breakfast served?
We serve breakfast from 7.30 to 9.30 a.m. but would appreciate being told what time you would like breakfast before you retire for the night.

How far is the city centre?
About a mile and three quarters.

Can one walk to the city centre?
Yes certainly, it is a lovely scenic walk down the hill and takes around 30 minutes. Walking back takes a little longer! If asked nicely we can drop you in town!

Can one walk to the university?
Yes, it takes about 30 minutes.

Is there a convenient bus route into Bath?
The buses that serve this area are the number 13 and 713 services between the bus and railway stations and Combe Down. To get to the nearest bus stop, three minutes away, walk up Midford Rd (left out of the front gate) then after 300 metres on the left hand side opposite the Cross Keys pub is the bus stop for Bath. When returning, ask to be set down at "the Cross Keys Southstoke Road", walk down Midford Road, and the house is on the right after the track turning marked CRANLEIGH.

Can you recommend a local taxi firm?
Taxis at night or in bad weather are a good idea. Abbey Taxis are reliable - 01225 444444.

Is there off-street parking at High Beeches?
Yes - at the rear of the house.

Can we leave the car parked before checking in or after checking out?
Yes usually, by prior arrangement.

Do we need a car if staying at High Beeches?
Not really. Many of our guests have no car and manage fine. They arrive by train or coach and get about by bus and taxi, or on foot.

Do you speak any foreign languages?
Yes: not fluently but some French, some German and Italian.

Are there any Internet facilities for guests?
All rooms have Wi-fi access to the Internet via broadband, which can be used by guests who bring notebook computers. We can also lend you a notebook during your stay or give you access to our desktops.

Do you accept credit or debit cards?
We can only accept credit debit and charge cards at time of reservation as security for the booking. However,if you book through our website you can infact pay by credit card using our Paypal Account. Otherwise, full settlement of the bill should be paid by cash (GBP, EUR, USD, AUD, or NZD) or by cheque with guarantee card.

Do you accept bookings for just one night?
We do accept one night bookings but not if your stay includes Saturday night in which case it would be a minimum of two nights. However,we would suggest that Bath is always worth a much longer visit!

I shall arrive by train or coach - how can I find High Beeches?
We offer a courtesy collection service from the bus and railway stations by prior arrangement.

Where is a good place to park in Bath?
While you are staying at High Beeches you are welcome to leave the car parked there.
Laura Place has paying places for up to two hours during the day until 6pm, they are free in the evenings and on Sundays.
Otherwise, the Cricket Club carpark on North Parade Road is recommended.

Do you have any pets?
Yes - we have a young & extremely friendly Golden Retriever male. For this reason we must ask guests not to bring their own dogs or other pets unless by prior arrangement.
